General Rules of Wetcleaning:
When selecting a cleaning program, the following criteria must be
considered:
- Proper temperature
- Mechanical action and extraction
- Garment construction as well as fabric type. Proper Garment
classification is especially critical in achieving proper wetcleaning results. When a
garment is made of multiple fabrics, the most delicate fabric type in the mixture should
always be used as the basis for selecting a cleaning program.
- Garments processed in wetcleaning cycle need to be kept at half
machine capacity.
- Suggest water temperature ranges are 80 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Use the proper wetcleaning detergents and conditioners that are
environmentally friendly and biodegradable.
- Avoid dry side spotting chemicals.
- Hanging garments out of the dryer immediately at the end of the cycle
to reduce unnecessary wrinkling. Proper temperature should be considered when drying.
- Avoid over drying.
- Place garments on plastic hangers or use a Laidlaw coated wire hanger
to avoid rusting.
- Do not mix anionic and cationic detergents, softeners or sizing.
(many of these rules come from the Professional Cleaning
Network).
