Let's assume you are not throwing garments into the wheel wet without using a leveling agent. If you are spotting properly and using a good leveling agent, where is the redeposition coming from?
Here are some places to look! This information was taken primarily from the IFI Troubleshooting Guide.
| Possible Cause | Recommendation |
| Insoluble soil redeposition in the wheel on garments causing greying. | Increase solvent flow rate to one gallon per minute. A minimum of 10 solvent changes during a load. |
| Wash cycle too short to flush away soil. | Increase wash cycle time to 10 to 15 minutes |
| Not enough detergent to keep soil suspended. | Keep detergent at level recommended by manufacturer. Check daily (test kit). |
| New cartridges may leak carbon particles | Check cartridges for leaks (gaskets). Run several dark colored loads after changing cartridges. |
| Poor filter maintenance. | Change filters at recommended poundage (or regenerate filters if regenerative type of filter (spin disk for example). Do not over extend filter life. |
| Improper classification of garments. | Separate loads into dark, medium, light at a minimum, further possible separation into light weight and heavy weights (silks, wools for example). |
| Solvent-soluble soils and dyes. | Change filters at recommended rate (or regenerate at recommended rate. Use carbon for color control. Increase distillation. |
| Overloaded washer. | Load washer only to 80% capacity.l |
| Poor pump performance. | Check pump capacity. Pump should perform 10 solvent changes during 10 minute wash cycle. |
