Draperies may be sized with gum base water soluble resin. When the drape gets wet, the sizing "wicks" into rings. The water carries with it the water soluble sizing and accumulated soil in the fabric. Upon drying, all this is locked into the ring by the water soluble gum sizing and cannot be removed by drycleaning without help.

To clean, use TERGITŪ. a powerful but gentle neutral lubricant, to cut through the accumulated soil. Once penetrated, RSRŪ is required to digest and break down the gum. Once the gum is broken down. the locked-in soil can be flushed out in drycleaning.

After the ring is broken down, the moisture on the drape must be leveled to guard against redeposition during drycleaning. A solution of drycleaning detergent and new or distilled solvent is effective. We also suggest Laidlaw Leveling Agent or Laidlaw Hydrocarbon Leveling Agent.

Now the drapes are ready for cleaning

Procedure: Add 1 teaspoon of RSRŪ Enzyme Digestive Agent to 1/2 pint of TERGITŪ. For your convenience, we offer a spray or spotting bottle. Apply the TERGIT-RSR solution onto the stain and let it work for 15-20 minutes. It may be necessary to re-apply the mix several times during this period because THE MIX MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRY ON THE FABRIC. It helps to waft steam onto the work area to heat up the enzyme (not too much! -about 100 degrees F). When the stain starts to move, apply the leveling agent and hang the drape to partially dry before cleaning.
